POLMED BOARD OF TRUSTEES RÉSUMÉS
Advocate Linda Mbana (Chairperson)
Adv L Mbana is the Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in the North West province (Hawks). She occupies a rank of Major General since 2011. She was previously the Provincial Head of Legal Services in the Northern Cape. She is the Chairperson of POLMED’s Board of Trustees.
She holds three legal degrees, namely a B Juris, LLB and a Master’s in Labour Law. She is also an admitted attorney who strives towards customer service excellence, good governance, strategic compatibility and exemplary leadership.
Adv L Mbana served as a researcher, labour advisor, a researcher for the Land Claims Court Judge President, and a legal advisor in different government departments before being appointed as a Brigadier at the South African Police Service (SAPS). She was admitted as an advocate in 2010.
Adv L Mbana’s strength lies within her organising will, clarity of mind and dominance of intellect. She has a proven track record of responsibility, integrity and commitment to the employer’s objectives, which highlights her ethical values.
Her motto is: Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence.
Ms Kedibone Cecilia Moloko
Ms KC Moloko matriculated at Sekano-Ntoane High School and proceeded to the University of the North where she obtained a BA in Social Sciences in 1986.
In 2002 she studied at Rand Afrikaans University and obtained Master’s Diploma in Human Resource Management.
In 2005 she successfully completed the Presidential Strategic Leadership Development Programme (PSLDP) offered by the South African Institute and accredited to Honours status level 7 by North West University’s School of Social and Government Studies.
After completing her junior degree she was employed by Standard Bank for four years, then joined the Edcon Group (Edgars Stores Ltd) as a Human Resources Manager for eight years. She joined the Gauteng Office of the Premier as a Human Resources Manager for four years and joined the South African Police Service (SAPS) in January 2001 as a Brigadier.
In 2011 she was promoted to Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Human Resource Management in the Limpopo province and in 2015 she was transferred to the head office in Pretoria where she is currently working as the Component Head: Employee Relations and Life Cycle Management.
Mr Nnyimeleni Patrick Nethengwe
Mr NP Nethengwe is a senior manager (Brigadier) at the South African Police Service (SAPS), heading the portfolio for absenteeism management and medical incapacities/disabilities at national level.
He has a wealth of knowledge about public sector management dynamics drawn from tenures of employment at the Department of Health and Correctional Services, before enlisting at SAPS.
He possess a plethora of skills – a mix ranging from clinical, legal and business to management acumen. The aforesaid is drawn from vast experience in health risk management, involvement in medico-legal litigations and strategic management exposure. This is backed by academic qualifications, namely: MBA-Coursework, BA (CUR), Nursing Diploma (Psychiatry, Midwifery, Community and General Nursing) and a National Diploma in Law.
Mr NP Nethengwe has been designated as a Trustee of POLMED’s Board since 2016. He is passionate about the sustainability of POLMED, whilst also ensuring POLMED members pay contributions that are down-managed in comparison with the medical scheme industry, without compromising on benefit offerings.
Advocate De Villiers Odendaal
Adv DV Odendaal is a serving member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) for the past 32 years, holding the rank of Brigadier.
He is employed as the Section Head for Legal Support: Resources within Legal Services at the head office.
He holds the following qualifications: BA (Law), LLB, LLM and an Advanced Diploma in ADR.
He is actively involved in human resources issues at SAPS as a negotiator in the Safety and Security Sectoral Bargaining Council (SSSBC), appearing in arbitrations and advising SAPS management on general labour law issues.
Adv DV Odendaal has been serving on the POLMED Board of Trustees since 2015 and is also assisting in the Human Resources and Remuneration Committee (HRREMCO) of the Board.
His passion is to serve the broad interest of SAPS members and as a POLMED Board member he is able to live this passion out.
Ms Ntombizonke Letticia Twetwa
Ms NL Twetwa was born in Butterworth (Eastern Cape). She is a Lieutenant Colonel in the South African Police Service (SAPS) at the Management Intervention Division and is responsible for ensuring service delivery is improved and addressing service delivery dysfunctions at the stations within the Eastern Cape province.
She matriculated at Mthatha Technical College and obtained a Diploma in Human Resources Management at the Southern Business School Institution in Johannesburg as well as an Advanced Diploma at the same institution.
During 2014 she obtain a Higher Certificate in Political Economics at the University of the Western Cape, and during 2017 she successfully obtain a Higher Certificate in Accounting at the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) in Johannesburg.
She served within different structures in leadership positions as Provincial Deputy Secretary and later as a Secretary at the Provincial Polmusca Executive Committee in Eastern Cape for two consecutive terms. She served as Provincial Gender Coordinator and later became Provincial Treasurer of The Police and Prison Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) – a position she currently holds.
As a Trustee of POLMED’s Board, she is dedicated to ensuring the necessary service is rendered to members at all times.
Doctor Bongiwe Matilda Zulu
Dr BM Zulu was appointed as a member of POLMED’s Board of Trustees in August 2017. Dr BM Zulu, who established Division Research at the South African Police Service (SAPS) in January 2016, is currently leading and managing research at SAPS as Divisional Commissioner Research at a rank of Lieutenant General.
Prior to this she served in various senior management positions within SAPS, including Divisional Commissioner: Human Resource Development in February 2015; Acting Divisional Commissioner: Crime Intelligence in October 2013; Head: Education, Training and Development Standards in August 2011; Director in Crime Research and Statistics in 2009 and Provincial Head: HRD in 2007.
In 2002 Dr BM Zulu joined SAPS as Deputy Director: ETD Research and Curriculum Design coming from the Department of Education as Head of Department: Mathematics, Natural and Computer Sciences.
Dr BM Zulu holds Doctor of Education and Master of Education Degrees from the University of Zululand and Bachelor of Education in Educational Science and Bachelor of Pedagogic in Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
She holds a N6: Human Resource Management, Diploma: Manager Development; Diploma: Advanced Project Management; Graduate Certificate: Knowledge Management; Advanced Graduate Certificate in Applied Management obtained in Australia and a Graduate Certificate: Strategic Leadership obtained from the Gordon Institute of Business Science.
