ONCOLOGY PROGRAMME
Polmed offers a comprehensive Oncology Management Programme to provide support to our members who have been diagnosed with cancer. The primary function of the Programme is to pre-authorise oncology treatment and to interact with oncologists regarding treatment plans for cancer patients.
The programme includes:
Review of the proposed cancer treatment
Contacting oncologists to request additional information
Informing you and your oncologist which of the proposed treatment(s) will be paid for by the Scheme
Providing reasons if the Scheme will not pay for any of the requested treatment
Providing information on oncology benefits
Counselling | |
Hospital authorisation for cancer-related admissions |
Members who have been diagnosed with cancer are encouraged to register on the programme. Once registered, an Oncology case manager will help the member understand the processes to be followed, explain the benefits available, and provide other support and information.
Note:
- POLMED’s Oncology Management Programme aims to ensure that you receive cost-effective care of the highest quality. Our oncology (cancer) programme gives you access to a team of qualified professionals who will provide you with support and guidance, and assist you with managing your oncology benefits and needs.
- Please be reminded that POLMED makes use of an oncology network to ensure that members who are diagnosed with cancer and registered on the Scheme’s Oncology Management Programme receive the best possible care, at an affordable cost. The Oncology Management Programme Network is applicable across both Polmed options, so we urge you to use oncologists within the Oncology Management Programme Network to help avoid out-of-pocket expenses.
- Should you decide to voluntarily obtain oncology-related services (other than emergency treatment) outside of the Network, a co-payment of 30% will apply on the network tariff. It is therefore important to confirm with your Oncologist if he/she belongs to the Oncology Management Programme Network.
