HIV MANAGEMENT

Clinical Care

The HIV Management Programme provides a rigorous and comprehensive solution for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The core components of the Programme are:

Case management
Medicine review
Patient education
Health status monitoring
Patient compliance
Clinical oversight
Data analysis and reporting

Education and Training

In many ways, HIV/AIDS education plays a vital role in the management of HIV. Education is, therefore, a key component of our core service offering and is strongly recommended as a minimum HIV/AIDS intervention.

Care and Support

Our HIV Management programme aims to improve the quality of life for members living with HIV/AIDS.

Some of the care and support we provide:

  • Our treatment support staff give patients one-on-one attention to make sure they understand how to take their medication and the importance of sticking to their treatment plan.
  • We provide access to funding for treatment, including antiretrovirals.
  • Dedicated telephonic counselling, for advice on living a healthy, long life.
  • Counselling is also offered to meet the medical and psychological needs of our patients.

Through all of the above, we believe that we can help improve overall health, encourage preventive behaviour, and make care and treatment more accessible.

Healthy living

Many people infected by HIV lead healthy, happy and long lives. Many actions can help your body better deal with the virus and delay the development of AIDS. Your emotional and mental state also play a significant role in how you manage your condition.

How to Register

Step1 If you are worried that you might be infected with HIV, ask your doctor or clinic to test you. This test will be paid for, and only you and your doctor will be informed of the results.
Step2 If the results show that you are HIV positive, call Polmed’s HIV Management Programme on 0860 765 633 and ask for an application form.
Step3 Your doctor will examine you and help complete the form. Your doctor will be paid for completing the form.
Step4 Fax your completed form to our toll-free number: 0800 600 773.
Step5 The HIV medical team is specially trained to review your medical details. They will contact your doctor if necessary and agree on the most appropriate treatment for you.
Step6 You will need to visit your doctor for regular examinations and tests.
Step7 Your doctor will contact the HIV Management Programme to keep us informed about your condition.
